Generative AI is increasingly becoming part of the modern analytical toolkit, but many professionals are still exploring how these tools fit into everyday Excel workflows. Claude offers a growing ecosystem of capabilities designed to assist with analytical work, including the Claude Excel add-in and Claude Cowork, which enable users to collaborate with AI systems directly on spreadsheets and related datasets.
This session introduces practical techniques for integrating Claude into Excel-based analysis. Participants will learn how the Claude Excel add-in allows analysts to send structured prompts from Excel and receive assistance with formulas, model structures, and data interpretation. Rather than replacing traditional spreadsheet methods, Claude can help accelerate common analytical tasks such as building formulas, exploring datasets, and generating narrative explanations for reports.
The session also explores Claude Cowork, a newer capability that enables multi-step collaboration with files and datasets. Analysts can use Cowork to coordinate tasks such as organizing documents, extracting information from files, and preparing analytical outputs that incorporate data from Excel workbooks.
Because accuracy is essential in financial and business analysis, the course also emphasizes validation techniques. Participants will learn how to structure Excel models so AI systems interpret them correctly and how to cross-check AI-generated results using traditional Excel calculations.
By the end of the session, participants will understand how Claude’s tools can complement existing Excel workflows and how analysts can responsibly integrate generative AI into modeling, analysis, and reporting tasks.
Excel remains a primary analytical tool for finance, operations, and data teams. At the same time, generative AI tools are rapidly changing how analysts build models, explore data, and communicate insights. Claude’s ecosystem, including the Claude Excel add-in and Claude Cowork, allows analysts to interact with spreadsheets conversationally while still working inside familiar Excel workflows.
In this session, Excel MVP George Mount demonstrates practical ways analysts can use Claude alongside Excel to accelerate modeling, formula development, and exploratory analysis. Rather than replacing Excel skills, Claude can act as a collaborative assistant that helps analysts move faster when building models, interpreting data, and drafting explanations for reports.
Attendees will see realistic examples such as financial modeling, dataset exploration, and validation techniques that help ensure AI-assisted analysis remains accurate and auditable. The session also explores how Claude Cowork can coordinate multi-step tasks involving Excel files and analytical workflows.
Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of how Claude fits into modern Excel workflows and how analysts can safely integrate AI assistance into real business analysis.
